Rotomotion is announcing a new helicopter in the 100lb (50kg) payload class. With 40lb of user payload the aircraft is capable of 4 hours of flight. With 65 lbs of user payload the aircraft is capable of 2 hours of flight. This large airframe is based on an aircraft class engine, made by Hirth and featuring onboard start and fuel injection for ease of operation. Find out more here
In cooperation with the South Carolina State Guard, a ground control uplink to the internet via 3G celluar modem was demonstrated allowing a remote operator real-time video and complete command and control of a Rotomotion UAS. The video, telemetry and command and control was securely tunneled to the remote operator over the internet. Remote control via the internet showed very little latency (in the order of 250ms) and was effective at completing the test mission (finding a lost person).
Rotomotion demonstrated multiple aerial manuvers in 25 knot winds with gusts over 30 knots at the Unmanned Systems 2008 UK show. Look here for more info.
R3.4 Software has been demonstated flying with long tethered payloads. Part of this specific demonstration utilized a 75 feet long tether with 1.5lb air samplers at 25ft, 50ft and 75ft. Look here for more info and pictures.
